Part of an exhibition curated by Margaret Farmer ‘Terra Alterius – Land of Another’ where 6 indigenous and 6 non-indigenous artists were asked to imagine a land in which indigenous and non-indigenous cultures first meet and interact with respect for each other’s existence, differences, laws and culture …to imagine an Australia that was recognized as terra alterius, land of another, rather than terra nullius, land of nothing. The parts of Old Rivers are intimate representations of places that together build my understanding of the Australian continent. Each component is a special place- self-sufficient, individual and unique.
